Harriet, our youngest member of the crew, has been sailing since she was 12, starting off in dinghies, doing RYA squad training and competing in RS Fevas. Whilst taking a break from sailing to complete her studies in musical theatre, gaining her Level 4 Diploma in ballet, modern and freestyle, she returned to sailing to complete her competent crew in 2015 and to race in Cowes Week 2016. After falling back in love with sailing, she realised that she wanted to pursue a professional career in sailing.
So now a year in from starting her Yachtmaster training, having spent four months in the Caribbean island hopping, competing in the RORC 600, BVI Spring Regatta and Antigua Sailing Week, sailing in across the English Channel, most recently Round the Island Race… not to mention turning 20! Last but not least, Harriet has just passed her Yachtmaster offshore exam.
I am incredibly grateful to be given the opportunity to be a part of the new Salty Sailing adventure, and still can’t believe that my dream of being a professional sailor, which a year ago I didn’t know was possible, is finally coming true!
