Harry Leslie

Harry started off as a soldier where, among other things, he qualified as an RYA Yachtmaster Instructor. He then worked as a freelance charter skipper and instructor and sailed on a wide range of vessels including motor boats, square riggers and yachts of various types.

After leaving the sea he joined Her Majesties Coastguard and served in various locations and roles eventually rising to Senior Operations Manager with a wide ranging national and international portfolio. He has been awarded the Chief Coastguard’s commendation for search and rescue on two occasions.

Harry has represented the UK and EU in various capacities and is an internationally acknowledged subject matter expert on search and rescue management, communications and vessel traffic management. Since leaving the Coastguard he has worked as a consultant for the European Maritime Safety Agency, the Norwegian Government, the RNLI and various commercial organisations.

Harry also volunteers as a deputy operations manager at the well regarded Cowes Lifeboat Station. He combines his ability as an accomplished yachtsman with an in-depth knowledge of search and rescue and a totally inappropriate sense of humour.
