“Advanced skippering techniques for yachtsmen and women with considerable knowledge of sailing and navigation, wanting to undertake coastal passages by day and night.” RYA
The Coastal Skipper course is designed to give you the confidence to undertake longer and more complex coastal passages which may involve sailing at night, watch keeping systems, or more challenging passages. It will also focus on improving your close quarters manoeuvring, giving you the confidence to tackle those trickier berths.
You will gain a deeper understanding of the practical application of passage planning, pilotage by day and night, boat handling under power and sail, ensuring onboard safety and emergency situations. This is a continuous assessment course at the end of which you may be awarded with your Coastal Skipper certification.
