RYA SRC Short Range Certificate

A course and exam for anyone who owns a fixed or handheld marine VHF radio. A radio is an important piece of safety equipment on board and it is vital to understand the correct procedures. The Short Range Certificate is the minimum qualification required by law to control the operation of VHF and VHF Digital Selective Calling (DSC) equipment on any British flagged vessel voluntarily fitted with a radio either fixed or hand held.

1 Day Course (Usually 9am - 5pm)
Exam at the end of the day

Pre Requisits:

Minimum age 16 (under 16s can attend the course but are not eligible for the exam)
Read the RYA SRC handbook before the course, (included in your course fee)
Learn the phonetic alphabet
Bring a passport photo

Certificate valid for:

The RYA Short Range Certificate is valid for life and covers marine VHF and DSC for Class D (leisure) equipment.
